Muffin Craze

Plain Butter Muffins Posted by Hello

More Muffins!

Double Chocolate Chip MuffinsPosted by Hello

I was on a baking craze for the past three weeks or so... mainly stress induced :P Hobbies are created to help us relax. Baking, sewing and doing craftwork are the main avenues that i usually take to relief stress. This recipe is really easy to do. I bake almost every night for two weeks and stopped for a bit :P wondering if Troy is sick of it yet! lol... I made a lot of variation but the man still prefers the double choc chip version. I am not really a chocolate person so banana walnut or just plain butter is fine by me :) Have a go at this!

MUFFINS

Ingredients

  • 125g butter
  • 75g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 bottlecap full vanilla essence
  • 150g plain flour
  • 50g wholemeal flour
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 125 ml milk

Variation: 1 ripe banana, handful of walnuts, 75g choc chip, 25g cocoa powder

Directions

  • Prepare muffin pan; grease or lay cups
  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
  • Mix butter, sugar, eggs & vanilla essence ( & banana ) in a mixing bowl
  • Sift flour and baking powder together.
  • Throw in both wet and dry ingredients, adding milk in the process.
  • Fill cups with batter.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until browned.

Recipe is modified from the muffin recipe at T.R's blog.

The Making of Tim's Birthday Cake

The Works.... Posted by Hello

Janice ... this is for you :)

We weren't that keen to offer Tim his birthday cake and we are not really fan of cakes... so here goes, the following is the list of stuff we bought to 'construct' his cake.

  1. 3 Butter Cakes $3.50 each from a neighbourhood bakery
  2. 1 Farm Animal Sugar Figurine Set $7.50 from Prima Deli
  3. 1 Icing Tube $5.20 from cold storage
  4. 1 cupful of hundreds and thousands ( forgot to use) $1.20 from a bake shop
  5. 1 Tub Betty Crocker's Icing $5 plus from cold storage
  6. 1 Base for sitting cake on
  7. Birthday candles

... and Troy, my free labour :D

We both love baking. I wanted to bake a cake but can't manage the time as i had to run some errands This is the best we come up with. We didn't really eat the cake... its just eye candy :P As mentioned earlier, i would love to play with marzipan :D Will do that together with Tim for his next birthday and see what he can come up with. You could purchase other designs of the Figurine set from Prima Deli.

Go visit Phoon Huat and get your baking works if you are really keen to bake, just whip up a simple cake. The cake has to be completely cooled before you could decorate it. I am sure you will have fun and Yihang would be delighted to play with some 'playdoh' marzipan and help dress up the cake!
